Candles, cloaks and cosy corners: Inside Quill's Winter Seasonal Spoils

I've always thought there was something magical about winter, and its not just because its my birthday season. I love when it's really cold, weird coming from a born and bred Queenslander, I know, but I really enjoy the winter fashion, winter drinks and warm foods. And that's what we aimed for with Quill's Seasonal Spoils Winter edition.

Every Seasonal Spoils box begins with a feeling. For winter, Quill imagined flickering candles, hidden secrets and fuzzy socks. That atmosphere became the heart of everything inside the box.

One of our favourite parts of curating Seasonal Spoils is shining a spotlight on indie authors. When Quill discovered A House of Cloaks and Daggers, he knew it captured the mystery, intrigue, and fantasy feel we wanted readers to experience this season. To make it even more special, every box included a signed copy of the novel from Loren.

Of course, no Seasonal Spoils box would be complete without its trinkets.

2026 Winter Edition featured artwork cards, stickers, badges, a bookmark, pen, tote bag, magnet, under eye mask, earrings, a candle, scrunchies, an air freshener, a stubby cooler, hand warmers, a 'don't wake the dragon' sleeping mask, a keyring, tea, and Werther's lollies. This season we were also luck enough to have two small businesses feature in our box; fluffy nightshade socks from AUS/NZ Finding Fantasy Corner and a dagger bookmark/letter opener from R. Lennard author.

Every item was chosen to complement the reading experience. Nothing is included as filler. Each piece helps create a little world around the story, turning an ordinary reading session into a cosy winter escape.

And amazingly our winter box sold out!

So we got to offer a subscription free surprise book box, that supported an indie author AND two other small Aussie businesses.

For Quill, that's what Seasonal Spoils is all about: supporting indie authors, celebrating Australian creators, and creating unforgettable reading experiences, one season at a time.

Signing off,

Kristie & Quill.
